“Why Did the Mouse Go to the Moon” is a wonderful children’s book that your children can enjoy at more than one age.  It can be read to a child and they can read along when they are ready.  The story will captivate you when you read how these innovative mice actually find a way to go to the moon and just how all of them work together.  John is a story writer who weaves humor into his adventures and always leave small things to look for  in his very detailed illustrations.  Be sure to look for “Happy, who gets to drive” and one mouse thinks he is getting away with doing very little work and smiles so you know who he is.  Scientific facts , like “the distance per year that the moon is moving away from the earth, and what “weightlessness” is, are inserted just where needed and prove to be educational as well.

“Kathie’s Dollhouse”.  When Kathie was three her birthday gift was a dollhouse. Its a story of “letting go” and the start of “growing up.” Help from her dad and two little mice bring surprises to the story and a small mystery is at hand, suitable for anyone to read. The mice are very smart, kind and understanding. The story is age appropriate for children 3 to 13 years old (younger or older), spanning whatever time-line your child or you find appropriate. It has an understandable “twist” at the end that lets the story all come together for a very “happy ending.”
